Blue Elephant Energy and Entrix successfully launch their collaboration on the first battery storage project in Blue Elephant Energy’s portfolio

Blue Elephant Energy GmbH has started construction on its first battery storage system with a capacity of approximately 12 MW in Germany, which is scheduled to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2024.

“The start of construction on our first battery storage system marks an important milestone in our company’s history,” commented Tim Kallas, Chief Investment Officer of Blue Elephant Energy GmbH. “With our first battery storage system, we are making an active contribution to further flexibility and thus relieving the burden on the power grids.”

As a leading optimizer for algorithmic trading, we will dynamically market the capacity of the storage system across various energy markets, including primary and secondary balancing services as well as trading on the power exchange. With our #AI #based technology, we ensure market-leading results for Blue Elephant Energy GmbH and contribute significantly to grid stability.

“We are very pleased to be working with Blue Elephant Energy, one of the pioneers of the energy transition with a renewable energy portfolio of over 1.6 GWp. This partnership underscores our market-leading position in the German battery storage market. By combining our expertise, we aim to achieve outstanding results with innovative solutions,” said Lars Löhle, CCO of Entrix.

The project was financed by DKB | Deutsche Kreditbank AG. This project demonstrates the impressive technical and economic feasibility of advancing battery storage expansion in Germany.

“Battery storage is an essential building block for the success of the energy transition. In recent months, the expansion of storage in Germany has gained significant momentum. The Blue Elephant Energy project is exemplary in demonstrating how technically and economically feasible it is to drive storage expansion forward,” explained Matthias Burger, Head of the Southern Region at Deutsche Kreditbank AG (DKB).

Thank you to all partners for the excellent collaboration!
