Entrix and Greenvolt Power announce the commercial operation of one of Poland's first operational grid-scale battery energy storage systems, marking Entrix's first operational battery storage project in Poland. The Turośń Kościelna Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has a capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh, making it one of the country's largest battery storage projects. The battery will provide critical flexibility for the Polish power system while supporting the integration of growing volumes of renewable energy.
Poland has one of Europe's largest battery energy storage pipelines, yet only a limited number of grid-scale assets have reached commercial operation. The Turośń Kościelna BESS demonstrates how battery storage projects can successfully transition from development into commercial operation, transforming planned capacity into operational flexibility for the electricity system.
Developed by Greenvolt Power, the project combines Greenvolt's expertise in delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure with Entrix's AI-based multi-market optimization solution. Working together from project setup through technical integration, testing, and market onboarding, the two companies have established the foundation for reliable commercial operation and long-term asset performance.
As Poland continues to expand renewable electricity generation, battery energy storage systems are becoming an essential component of the country's energy infrastructure. By providing balancing and ancillary services, increasing system flexibility and shifting renewable electricity to periods of higher demand, the Turośń Kościelna BESS will strengthen grid stability, enable greater integration of wind and solar energy, and contribute to Poland's long-term energy security. The asset is expected to participate in Poland's capacity market from 2028.
"Our first operational battery storage project in Poland is an important milestone for Entrix and reflects our commitment to supporting one of Europe's fastest-growing battery storage markets. Together with Greenvolt Power, we are demonstrating how large-scale battery storage can strengthen grid stability, enable greater integration of renewable energy and create long-term value for both asset owners and the electricity system."
"Bringing Turośń Kościelna into commercial operation is an important milestone for Greenvolt Power and demonstrates how battery storage projects can successfully move from development into active market participation. Delivering a project of this scale requires close collaboration, transparency and operational expertise. Together with Entrix, we have established a strong foundation for this project and for the continued rollout of our battery storage portfolio in Poland."
Entrix will optimize and commercialize the battery using its AI-driven multi-market optimization solution. By continuously evaluating real-time market conditions, battery availability and technical asset parameters, the solution dynamically allocates capacity across the most attractive electricity markets while ensuring reliable system operation. Drawing on experience across Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal, Entrix enables battery asset owners to maximize long-term revenues while providing flexibility services that strengthen increasingly renewable electricity systems.
