Entrix and Enpal Announce Europe’s Largest Residential Virtual Power Plant (VPP)
Entrix and Enpal have announced a pioneering collaboration to establish Europe’s largest Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in the residential sector, setting new benchmarks for energy flexibility and sustainability. For more details, refer to articles about the VPP on pv magazin and FAZ.
Entrix and Enpal are proud to announce the start of Europe’s largest and most innovative Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in the residential sector. This initiative, combining Entrix’s expertise in optimizing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Enpal’s extensive network of residential customers, represents a significant leap forward in the energy transition.
The Virtual Power Plant optimizes household energy storage systems, renewable generation (such as solar panels), and demand-side resources like electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps. By integrating these elements, the VPP effectively functions as a massive virtual battery, enabling households to contribute actively to the energy market and benefit financially. With up to 80,000 Enpal customers anticipated to join, this system will play a pivotal role in decentralizing and enhancing energy efficiency across Europe.
What sets this VPP apart is its advanced market participation. Unlike traditional solutions limited to Day-Ahead Market operations, this VPP leverages Intraday Continuous Market trading, enabling energy transactions as close as five minutes before delivery. This approach significantly enhances financial returns for participating households by capitalizing on short-term market fluctuations.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in Enpal and Entrix’s joint venture, called Flexa, reflecting their shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable energy innovation.
Entrix and Enpal look forward to achieving further milestones as they continue to drive Europe’s energy transition.
