Low Carbon brings extensive experience in developing, investing in and managing large-scale renewable energy and battery storage projects across Europe. Its investment in Poland is particularly significant at a time when the Polish power system is rapidly integrating renewable energy and requires new sources of flexibility.
Through its Polish platform LC Energia, Low Carbon is working in partnership with local developer Evercon and leading energy trading house InCommodities to deliver the Przeworsk project and help accelerate the deployment of utility-scale storage in one of Europe’s most dynamic emerging energy storage markets.
The project is a stand-alone, fully merchant battery energy storage system and represents another important step in the development of Poland’s utility-scale storage market. According to public project information, the Przeworsk battery storage has an installed power of 8.8 MW and a storage capacity of 17.6 MWh. The project has reached ready-to-build status and is targeting commercial operation in 2027.
Under the optimization agreement, Entrix will be responsible for maximizing the commercial performance of the asset across relevant Polish power markets. As a merchant project, the Przeworsk asset will rely on active, multi-market optimization to capture value from volatility, flexibility and system needs in Poland’s evolving electricity market.
Battery storage assets in Poland can generate revenues from multiple complementary market mechanisms, including Day-Ahead, IntraDay and ancillary services. Public project information highlights that Przeworsk BESS is expected to initially operate under a fully merchant model, with revenues primarily generated through organized power exchanges and balancing markets.
