Purpel Energy, a Hamburg-based developer and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), has selected Entrix to optimize and market its first battery storage project in Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia. The 5.15 MW / 12.2 MWh system is scheduled to start its commercial operation in September 2026.

Entrix will optimize and market the battery storage system across all relevant energy markets, including Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR), Frequency Restoration Reserve (FRR), as well as day-ahead and intraday trading. The asset will be operated through Entrix's AI-based multi-market optimization, which continuously analyzes real-time market data, technical asset parameters and the battery's state of charge to maximize commercial performance while supporting grid stability.

The Remscheid project marks Purpel Energy's first battery storage system entering commercial operation and represents the starting point for the company's growing storage portfolio. A second project has already reached ready-to-build status. Through this partnership, Entrix further strengthens its presence in the German battery storage market.

"With our first battery storage project, we are laying the foundation for our growing storage portfolio. Entrix has been an experienced partner from day one, supporting us not only with market optimization but also through close collaboration during project development. That gives us great confidence as we move forward with this project and the ones that will follow."

Tobias Berger, Managing Director of Purpel Energy

"Every new battery storage system adds valuable flexibility to the energy system. Unlocking that potential requires intelligent market optimization and close collaboration throughout the entire project lifecycle. We are excited to support Purpel Energy as their optimization partner on this journey."
